History
of Polish packaging competition
The
first Polish national packaging competition “Złoty
Kasztan”, was initiated in 1965. However, it was suspended
14 years later due to economic difficulties at that time.
Rapid development of Polish economy in the 90’s created
suitable conditions for revival of national competition and
adapting it to the requirements of the free market. COBRO
accepted the challenge and together with the Polish Chamber
of Packaging and the Board of Poznan International Fair
organized the first edition of the PakStar competition in
2002.
The
successful three editions of the competition (2002, 2004 and
2006) proved that they satisfied the needs of trade and
industry, generating conditions for the development of
packaging design and improvement of quality, at the same
time promoting competitiveness of products. It was also a
fine marketing resource for the winners.
Eight out of forty one PakStar winners to date have received an award at the International Packaging Contest
WorldStar. Each awarded packaging with high score rating by the WorldStar Jury demonstrates such
features, as functionality, marketing value, aesthetics and environmental
qualities.
Responding
to an appeal of WPO towards organizing national student
competitions, to take advantage of the creative potential of
young designers and
their promotion
- COBRO, in cooperation with the Warsaw Academy of
Fine Arts, established a new category of PakStar –
National Packaging Design Competition “Student PakStar”,
which first edition took place in 2008.
On
16 September 2008 Award ceremony of National Packaging
Competition PakStar 2008 and National Design Competition
Student PakStar 2008 took place during International
Packaging Technology and Logistics Exhibition TAROPAK 2008.
The
ceremony was honoured by the President of the World
Packaging Organization WPO, Mr. Keith Pearson.
